Yuzvendra Chahal, K Gowtham test positive for COVID-19: Report
The 3 T20I series came to a conclusion on July 29, and the remainder of the Indian team will return home. Krunal Pandya and his close associates, on the other hand, will remain in isolation in Sri Lanka. Following Krunal tested positive, he was sent to a different hotel, whereas the other 8 players stayed in the same hotel as the remainder of the Indian team but were distanced from them.
An individual who tests positive for the virus must isolate for 10 days: Sri Lankan official rules
Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Prithvi Shaw, Manish Pandey, and Deepak Chahar are the other 6 players who are now being held in isolation. Leg-spinner Chahal and Gowtham, as previously reported, have positive tests and are expected to be transferred to an isolation unit.
Due to all of these circumstances, India was forced to play the final two T20Is of the series with only 5 specialist batters. Sri Lanka defeated the stronger team across both games, claiming their first T20I series victory since 2019.
However, an individual who tests positive for the virus must isolate himself or herself for 10 days, as per Sri Lankan official rules. He or she will also have to go through a new set of tests and pass them before leaving the country. Likewise, close contacts will be isolated for 7 days, and additional tests will be required to clear them.
Prithvi Shaw and Surya’s prospects of visiting England are undoubtedly harmed as a result of these occurrences. The two were included as injury substitutes in the Indian Test team prior to the Test series against England on 4th August.
