Former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri is likely to impress in his new position as Commissioner of the Legends League Cricket (LLC). LLC is a professional tournament where retired players from all around the globe battle their trades, and it is expected to commence the next year. The inaugural season of LLC is scheduled to begin in the Gulf in January 2022.
Shastri, whose term with India concluded with the team’s participation in the T20 World Cup 2021, is pleased about his new position. He remarked that it feels amazing to be linked to the sport and that meeting all of the LLC veterans would be a lot of fun. It should be mentioned that Shastri’s time with Team India was exceptional.
“It feels great to remain connected with cricket in the thick of the action, especially with the Legends of the game who have been champions in their own rights. It is going to be a lot of fun with some serious cricket going. These stalwarts have nothing new to prove but they have their reputation in line and I can assure you, it will be interesting to see how they do justice to it,” said Shastri.
A unique initiative and we see a very bright future ahead: Ravi Shastri
The 59-year-old believes that LLC is a unique thing and that he is excited to be a component of it. The statement does not specify Shastri’s position in the league, which will include players from India, Sri Lanka, England, Australia, and Pakistan.
Raman Raheja, co-founder, and CEO of LLC, said that they could not have picked a better expert to supervise their operations than Shastri. He has the potential to become a global sports icon, not just in India. Shastri led the Indian squad to several bilateral wins across the globe, but the ICC Trophy escaped from him.
“I am extremely thrilled to be a part of Legends League Cricket. This is a unique initiative and we see a very bright future ahead,” Shastri added.
