Ravi Shastri Calls For Cricket Boards To Maintain Domestic Structure

The ongoing coronavirus crisis has broken up international cricketing operations and cast doubt on the future of many tournaments. In addition, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) postponed the much-awaited Indian Premier League ( IPL 2020) season. The T20 World Cup is still clouded by a lot of doubt later this year in Australia.

Staging IPL And Bilateral Series Would Be Easier Than Staging The T20 World Cup: Ravi Shastri

In an interview, India’s coach Ravi Shastri said that worldwide cricket boards like BCCI should concentrate on their domestic structure rather than immediately take part in the T20 World Cup when cricket resumes. He listed the BCCI ‘s example of the failure of the pandemic’s early launch of IPL 2020. Ravi Shastri claims that after the crisis it will be easier to organize a tournament like IPL than to stage a T20 World Cup.

Ravi Shastri believes that any cricketing nation should find its fit in domestic tournaments and that is why “paramountvalue should also be attached. The BCCI and other boards are also encouraged to take this opportunity to strengthen its domestic structure.

There Are No Plans Of Organizing Any Cricketing Activities In The Country- Sourav Ganguly:

Ravi Shastri contrasted with the T20 World Cup management behind the organization of domestic events (like IPL). He claimed that “one or two cities” can play the IPL or a bilateral series with a touring party. But he added that it’s not possible to say the same thing about hosting 16 international teams for an international event of one month (T20 World Cup).

Ravi Shastri also hoped that the next stage in the lockdown in India would allow for the partial resumption of activities, apart from supporting IPL and other domestic tournaments during the T20 World Cup.

Shastri said players will continue training and get back into the groove by gaining access to local stadiums. He admitted, however, that training camps would take place only if the Indian government and Sourav Ganguly president of BCCI have been approved.

Originally the IPL 2020 was scheduled to start on 29 March. Sourav Ganguly recently said that, while the tournament had already been postponed indefinitely by the BCCI, there were no plans to hold any cricketing in the country at this point.
