Ravi Shastri Addresses The Criticism Facing By Team India

Former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has spoken out about the criticism he and his squad experienced during his time in charge. Shastri’s tenure as head coach expired with India exiting the T20 World Cup in the Super 12 phase, and he has since slammed critics, noting that the squad had to undergo strong criticism on occasions despite winning so many over the previous 7 years.

Ravi Shastri was named India’s head coach in 2017, and his term was prolonged till the T20 World Cup following the 2019 World Cup. And including him, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar’s stints came to an end. Despite performing an excellent job while in charge, the team opted not to stay in their roles.

Take criticism along the way and move on: Ravi Shastri

Returning to Shastri’s condemnation of critics, he claimed that it has become time for him to be the judge after someone else criticized him for 7 years of his life. “I was judged for 7 years of my life that was under public scrutiny. Time for me to sit on the judge’s chair and judge some of these people,” he said.

Ravi Shastri also mentioned how popular the sport is in India and how criticism is unavoidable when the team fails. Furthermore, he also stated that so much criticism may be quite harsh on the team at times, providing them with no choice but to move on.

“In India, Cricket is a religion. You win 5 games and then when you lose, pistols and pens come out, and sometimes it’s acidic. You just got to take it on the chin. We won so much, people weren’t used to us losing. To take the bullet is the job of the coach. You overcome all those hurdles, you don’t let it pull you down. You have to ensure the team gives their best. Take criticism along the way and move on,” Shastri added.
