Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Ramiz Raja is eager to propose an annual quadrangular series featuring India, Australia, Pakistan, and England. Raja prefers that the competition be held on the T20I version of the game.
It is known that India and Pakistan only confront each other during main ICC competitions and have no bilateral associations. There is also buzz in Pakistan since the Australian team will tour the country for a packed series in March 2022.
It is not that far away but it seems far: Khawaja
However, Pakistan-born Australian cricketer, Usman Khawaja, claimed that anytime he has visited the country, he has received overwhelming support. Khawaja has also voiced his interest in playing cricket on Pakistani territory.
“I’ve always had great support in the subcontinent, Bangladesh, India, and particularly Pakistan where I was born. They were amazing even when I was there for the PSL. I would like to go back there and play. It is not that far away but it seems far. Even if I go there on tour, it will be amazing,” said Usman Khawaja.
The CEO of the Australian Cricket Association (ACA), Todd Greenberg, has also stated that he will join the Australian squad to Pakistan. Greenberg indicated that he wants to demonstrate to the players how committed he is to the Australian team in this regard.
“I’ve made an assurance to the players that they won’t go alone. If they’re going to Pakistan, I’ll be going with them and I think that’s important. It’s an opportunity to show the players that we’re in this together,” said Greenberg.
