Rajasthan Royals Names Gerald Coetzee As Liam Livingstone’s Replacement

Last week, a couple of international cricketers left the bio-bubble of IPL 2021 due to various reasons surrounding the COVID-19. However, Liam Livingstone of Rajasthan Royals left the IPL 2021 citing bubble fatigue as the reason. Rajasthan Royals lost their most important players due to injuries. Likes of losing match-winners like Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes decreases their chances of making it to the playoffs.

Gerald Coetzee Announced As A Replacement For Liam Livingstone In Rajasthan Royals Squad

Rajasthan Royals announced the signing of young South Africa fast bowler Gerald Coetzee as a replacement for England’s Liam Livingstone for the remainder of the season. Royals would be expecting some change in their fortunes as they welcome the new pacer.

In Gerald Coetzee’s career, he has been part of eight T20 matches so far and has nine wickets under his belt. He has scalped wickets at an average of 23.33 in the format and has also represented his nation in two U-19 World Cups.

Currently, Chris Morris is leading the pace bowling attack with help of Chetan Sakariya and Mustifizur Rahim. The Addition of Gerald Coetzee will bring an option to Captain Sanju Samson.

Rajasthan Royals are currently on 5th position on the table. Last night we saw an all-round bowling performance from Rajasthan Royals. RR crushed Sunrisers Hyderabad by 55 runs in Delhi. Chasing a mammoth 221, Sunrisers lost wickets at regular intervals and never got going in the chase. They eventually managed 165 for 8 in their 20 overs.

Jos Butler scored a brilliant 124 runs knock of 64 balls. Mustafizur Rahman and Chris Morris got three wickets each while Kartik Tyagi and Rahul Tewatia also bagged a wicket apiece to choke Sunrisers. With the win, Rajasthan rose to the sixth spot while Sunrisers continue to languish at the bottom of the table. Rajasthan Royals face Chennai Super Kings next on 5th May, 2021.
