Prithvi Shaw Registers His Maiden Double Century In First-Class Cricket

The Mumbai cricketer Prithvi Shaw grabbed the attention of the selectors once again after he scored his maiden double century in just 174 balls on Day 3 of the Ranji Trophy match against Baroda at the Reliance Stadium in Vadodara. The right-handed player is coming back after a six-month ban for doping violation earlier this year. He made his comeback to cricket in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The 20-year-old cricketer has impressed in the T20 tournament as he managed to score three half-centuries in the five matches.

Comeback Of Shaw Against New Zealand After Serving Six-Month Ban:

Shaw has once again registered his name in the hat for getting selected in the upcoming Test series against New Zealand with an outstanding double century in the Ranji opener. The young player played in his natural attacking style and completed his 9th first-class century in just 84 deliveries. Shaw continued to punish Baroda’s bowling attack and added 102 runs in the next 94 balls before he got dismissed by Bhargav Bhatt for 202. Shaw had also scored a half-century in the first innings with a 66 off 62 balls. On the back of his performance, Mumbai extended their lead to 533 runs before closing their innings.

In reply, Baroda scored 74/3 at the end of the day. They lost Aditya Waghmode, V S Bhosale, and Vishnu Solanki. Mumbai just needs 7 wickets to win the fourth and final match.

Shaw turned 20 only last month. He has promised that he would showcase a new version of himself. “I turn 20 today. I assure you it will be Prithvi Shaw 2.0 version going forward. Thank you for all the good wishes & support. Will be back in action soon,” he said while posting a video with an eye-catching caption.
