PCB To Review Misbah Spot As Head Coach In White-Ball Format

Misbah-ul-Haq, the current head coach of the Pakistan side, is expected to stay on till the end of the T20 World Cup in 2021. The rain-affected T20I series between Pakistan and the West Indies ended in a 1-0 victory for Pak. Here is Final Decision On Misbah’s Future As a Coach.

However, if the 3rd and 4th games had been finished, things may have been different. Prior to the four-match T20I series, Misbah had come under fire for his team’s dismal performance in England, when they lost both the ODI as well as T20I series.

Supporters and a few analysts were apparently dissatisfied with the Men in Green’s performance in the ODI series vs a second-string England team, and even bowling coach Waqar Younis took the brunt of the criticism. After a series victory in the Caribbean, things soon shifted, and Misbah has been reinstated as Pakistan’s head coach for the time being.

Difficult For The Board And Cricket Committee To Make A Final Decision On Misbah’s Future As Coach

Misbah will focus on building on the base of the team ahead of the T20 World Cup, which will be held in Oman and the UAE.

“Basically, everyone was keen to see how Misbah managed the team in the T20 series in West Indies as calls grew for the PCB to review his position as head coach in white-ball formats,” one reliable source told.

Rain spoiled all  3-matches, with the exception of the 2nd T20I against the West Indies, preventing Pakistan’s officials from determining if Misbah is the appropriate person for the position. There were also rumors that the club was planning to hire another specialized coach for the white-ball style.

“The feeling developed that perhaps Misbah was not the right man or didn’t have the coaching experience to take Pakistan into the T20 World Cup,” the source said.

Pakistan’s administration has made a deal with Misbah for the time being, with a limited-overs series against New Zealand due to begin on 17th September.

“But now since the T20 series in West Indies was badly disrupted by bad weather and three matches were abandoned it has become difficult for the board and cricket committee to make a final decision on Misbah’s future as white-ball coach,” the source concluded.
