PCB Invites England For A T20I Series In 2021 January

Pakistan Cricket Board CEO Wasim Khan has revealed:

To play a three-match T20I series, the PCB has invited England in next year January, chief executive officer of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Wasim Khan has revealed.

Since the 2005-2006 season, when team England came to Pakistan to play a Test and ODI series, England has not played any international match in Pakistan.

In a Pakistani media channel, Wasim Khan said “ Yes, now we have sent an invitation officially to the England Cricket Board to send their cricket team and also have created a window between 13th Jan to 20th Jan to play the three T20 series.”

Wasim Khan Statement:

Wasim Khan said that the short tour has no relation with the Pakistan tour to England for a Test series in this summer despite the threat of COVID-19. Also, Khan revealed that “When we had taken the decision to send the Pakistan team to England, we were very much worried due to COVID-19 and the situation of bio-secure bubble and some expressed their concerns that England might put our players into a health risk.”

He remembered “Taking the decision was not easy for us when 10 cricketers tested COVID-19 positive before leaving for the England tour. But we sent the squad since we thought that it was very important to resume cricket and the resumption of world cricket based on how good the bio-secure bubble worked.”

Now, It is up to the ECB to assess the circumstances and make a decision on the invitation. Khan said.

He said, “We never talked about the return time but now we have asked ECB to send their cricket team and now it is their call to consider the security, situation of COVID-19 before reaching a decision.”

Furthermore, he added, “We are pretty much sure that they will come to Pakistan and if that occurs, it will fantastic for the development of Pakistan cricket as it will unlock the doors for other leading sides like New Zealand, Australia to come to Pakistan.”
