PCB Expects England To ‘do the right thing’ In 2022 And Tour Pakistan

Pakistan is the second Test team to tour England this summer after team West Indies:

The decision of Pakistan to tour England despite the heavy traveling risks in this COVID-19 pandemic was not coming under a mutual contract but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expects that the English team to “do the right thing” in the year 2022.

After team West Indies, Pakistan is the second team, who tour to England this summer. Three Test matches will be played by them, which is beginning on Wednesday, and three T20Is will be played in Southampton and Manchester in a bio-secure environment.

England toured to Pakistan last in the year 2005 and are slated to come back in the year 2022, but so far the leading sides said no to tour since a 2009 attack on the team bus of Sri Lanka in Lahore.

On Thursday (30-07-2020), Wasim Khan, the Chief Executive officer of PCB said that the England tour would be regarded as a good initiative.

In a PCB podcast, when asked whether it will benefit the future of Pakistan cricket, he said definitely it will.

When asked “Have we set a contract with them currently for them to come?”, then Wasim Khan answered “No, we didn’t do that. Now it is not a suitable time to do that. It is all about the right time. Discussions are going on with ECB and they will do the right thing by us also.”

After so many years of hosting ‘home’ Test series in neutral locations because of security purpose, Pakistan team played last their Test match in Pakistan in 2009 against team Sri Lanka in last year December and this year hosted Bangladesh.

Furthermore, Wasim Khan said “The Pakistan Cricket Board had put the interests of the game to the front of its own. We are making decisions not just concerning about Pakistan cricket, but also what is good for global cricket. Presenting unity is the completely right thing for us. West Indies team is doing it and we have done it.”
