Pat Cummins, the Australian pace spearhead, is expecting spinners of his team to play a big role against India in the ODI series.
“My expectation is towards spinners that they play a bigger part in India more than around the world they do but for one day international you get a big spinning dust bowl it’s rare,” Cummins said ahead of Australia’s departure to India.
Last year in India, Australia made a brilliant comeback to win the five-match ODI series 3-2 in India.
“I think that we played two spinners in the last series, they are certainly important as they also played two, in the middle overs especially”, Cummins said.
Australia Is Traveling With Two Specialist Spinners
In their squad, Australia has included two specialist spinners — leg spinner Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar, the left-arm spinner.
Talking about the tracks in India, the 26-year-old said that as compared to other countries the ball gets softer which makes easier to bowl as the game progresses.
“Like anywhere else in the world with a new ball’s upfront there is always a little bit in it. Sometimes bowling with a bit of softer ball makes it a little bit easier but at that time where I felt that the ball gets probably a bit softer and chewed up and it does in other parts of the world more than over there,” said Cummins.
“In Australia, there are the fields which are a lot smaller and faster than here, so it’s just a different challenge, just a slightly different beast the wickets aren’t as pacey and bouncy but it’s the same format,” Pat Cummins added.
