Pat Cummins Rested For Perth T20I

Pat Cummins will miss the final T20I against Pakistan so that he gets adequate rest and time to prepare for the upcoming series of Tests. The pacer did not join the team, which traveled from Canberra to Perth, but went to Sydney instead.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, he is, however, expected to play at the SCG in the Sheffield Shield game of New South Wales against Western Australia, which will also include other national team players like Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, Steve Smith, and David Warner.

That’s going to be his only red-ball training ahead of the Test series against Pakistan before the Test squad assembles for a camp in Brisbane.

Justin Langer, the Australian head coach, said, “It’s a little bit of recovery and preparing for the Test match. We’ve got so much cricket on, and he plays a lot of it, so we’ve got the opportunity for him not to take the long flight to Perth.”

Langer added, “In the past, we have used these opportunities to rest some of those guys. But we need to get better at it, it’s something that is a priority for Australian cricket. So, therefore, you want to play your best players as often as you can.”
