Pakistan’s Head Coach Misbah-ul-Haq Screened COVID Positive

Before the team’s return from the West Indies, Pakistan’s current head coach Misbah-ul-Haq screened COVID positive. Except for Misbah, the entire crew was scheduled to leave on Wednesday, but they all passed the required two RT-PCR tests before departing. Later on August 25, the remainder of the team would depart from Jamaica for Lahore.

Similarly, Misbah-ul-Haq will be transferred to a new hotel, where he will be subjected to a 10-day quarantine as per protocol. In addition, after completing his isolation, he must test negative for the virus, and only then will he be allowed to return to Pakistan.

In a press release, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) verified the news and indicated that the head coach will be looked after by a medical professional. Misbah is now sick, according to reports. “Misbah was the only Pakistan squad member who failed two pre-departure PCR tests. All other members will leave Jamaica as per schedule later today (Wednesday)”.

Pakistan’s Head coach Misbah-ul-Haq should have to undergo a 10-day quarantine

The PCB is constantly in touch with Cricket West Indies who have confirmed that Misbah will be shifted to another hotel for the 10-day quarantine with a medical specialist assigned to look after his health and wellbeing,” the press release read.

Despite Misbah-ul-Haq getting the illness, Pakistan’s West Indies visit came to a close on a sad note. Nevertheless, they put up a fantastic show in the 2nd and final Test to tie the two-match series. They were down to 2/3 on the first morning after losing the toss at one point. However, Babar Azam and Fawad Alam saved the side, with the pair blasting a magnificent century.

Despite Pakistan batting till late on the 3rd day owing to rain, nobody anticipated the match to end in a draw. However, their pacers, particularly Shaheen Afridi, rebounded with figures of 10/94 over 2 innings to help his team eke out a win on the last day with relative ease. West Indies were dismissed for 150 and 219 runs, dropping the Test by 109 runs.
