Babar Azam widely regarded as one of the best batsmen in the world across formats finds himself under a spot. And no it isn’t related to his game or his captaincy. The issue is far serious and needs some soul searching to be done. A woman has accused recently appointed all format Pakistan skipper Babar Azam of abuse. She made this startling revelation in a press conference which has shaken the all and sundry of Pakistan cricket.

Who is this woman? Does she know Babar Azam?
This woman claims to be Babar Azam’s school-mate. Their history takes them back to their schooling days. She says that Azam has been exploiting for over a decade now. She even went on to the extent of saying Babar Azam had promised to marry her in 2010. But once he became a famous cricketer, he did not live up to the promise. Pakistani journalist Saw Sadiq has shared a video wherein we can see this woman crying for justice. She explains in the video how she had helped Babar Azam’s family when they required financial assistance. The lady recalls the time when Azam was not a famous cricketer and relied on her for help.

What were the claims made by the lady?
The woman claimed that Babar Azam had also physically violated her and warned her of dire consequences if she reported the matter to the police. In that video one can hear the woman saying, “He promised marriage, he got me pregnant, beat me up and later threatened and used me”.

Babar Azam is currently leading the Pakistani team in New Zealand. Pakistan are scheduled to play 3 T20I’s and 2 Tests against New Zealand. The men in green have been in the news for breaching the quarantine protocols. And now they find the news of their captain facing harassment charges.
