Numbers Reveal The Stunning Impact Of Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma has had a sensational year. In the World Cup, he scored 5 centuries and in Test cricket, he was brilliant as an opener. He was not only creative as a batsman, in all formats, but was also a complete match-winner for overall India.

Rohit Sharma, the right-handed bat scored 1921 runs in successful matches – in these ten years, he is the fourth-highest player who has scored the lowest level of 1500 runs in wins in a single calendar year, leading Rohit to find his name in the top list.

He scored 556 runs in 6 innings at a strike rate of 75.95 including three hundred as a Test opener in his debut year. He will surely never forget this year.

His batting average for any batsman (minimum 500 runs) in 2019 was the highest followed by Australian batsman Steve Smith(74.23). With a winning percent 78.67%, Rohit has the highest strike rate of playing in winning causes.

In India, his average percentage of 88.33 is the second-highest for any batsman at home in the history of Test cricket for a minimum of 1000 Test runs.

Rohit said at the end of this year, “I should be grateful for the year I’ve had. The victory of the World Cup there would have been nice. But as a team, we played some good tricks in cricket throughout the year whether in the red ball or white-ball cricket. The team kept together very well and every person moved up and put their hand up and got the team through. Personally, yes, I’ve enjoyed batting but there is no way that I’m going to stop here. An exciting year coming forward as well, so I excitingly look forward to that as well.”

He added, “I understand my style of batting very well and I want to play within my limits, whatever conditions I’ve got. On the ground, you want to follow that you have an idea on the game plan is very important and more frequently than not, I went out there trying to do that. Even the format of red-ball, playing opposite to South Africa, I knew it was going to be challenging. Although in India, we never saw the ball swing, it swung quite a bit in that series and it was a big challenge facing the new ball. We know the challenge will be bigger when we start traveling, and we want to win the game there. It’s more important than individual performances because we want to make sure we stay on top of the table.”
