No Point Of Making IPL Behind Closed Doors: Madan Lal

The Entire Nation Is Currently Under A 21-Day Lockdown:

Madan Lal, the former Indian cricketer, thinks that any decision on the fate of the Indian Premier League’s 13th season can only be made once the condition is improving in the middle of the current coronavirus pandemic.

The IPL 2020 season was expected to commence from March 29 but remains postponed until April 15 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The whole country already finds itself under a 21-days lockdown. That expires on April 14. But, since there is an upstage in the amount of COVID-19 patients for each passing day, the lockdown is likely to be prolonged, implying that IPL can not be performed in the immediate future.

“IPL is a perfect label. Although, if the condition changes and coronavirus is out, the board will only take a vote. It’s upstage, at the moment. So, no one can take a chance, “Lal told media outlets.

“If coronavirus is gone, cricket will naturally happen because it’s such a universal sport and everybody loves it. Even the players want to perform in front of fans, and this will only occur if the condition improves, “he said.

Madan Lal Is Part Of The 1983 World Cup Winning Team:

The 69-year-old India World Cup winner even claimed there was no point in holding the IPL matches without any fans in front of vacant stands.

“Watch IPL matches in front of vacant stands doesn’t make sense. It’s not only about teams and supporters. But it’s also about other people who are always interested in the cycle when moving, planning, streaming, and so on, “said Lal, who was part of the winning squad of the 1983 World Cup.

“When the condition recovers, other series can also take place, and BCCI will compensate for the lost period.”

Recently, India off-spinner and member of CSK team Harbhajan Singh said that many lives are on the line, and this is why he won’t mind playing without spectators if the circumstance requires. Even Australian cricketer Pat Cummins has endorsed the concept of making an IPL closed-door.
