New Zealand Show Off Their New T20I Kits Before The Australia Series

New Zealand, also known as Black Caps, is one of the strong teams in the cricket world. Soon it will fly to neighboring Australia for a highly anticipated series of 3 Tests and 3 ODIs.

New Zealand is ranked No. 2 in the ICC Test rankings and is coming off a home series win over England, while Australia has demolished a lackluster Pakistani team in both Tests by an innings margin.

The Kane Williamson-led side is also scheduled to host the Australian team at home for a T20I series in March of 2020, and for this special occasion, both teams agreed to go retro with their uniforms for next year’s encounters.

The retro kit of New Zealand was leaked in October this year via Black Caps’ Instagram post featuring Martin Guptill and it goes with their look in the late 1990s.

New Zealand Goes Retro And Brings Something New

The new-look jerseys from New Zealand take a leaf out of their 1999 look that was seen in the one-day series tour to India that year.

It is a mixture of teal and black with a large white fern leaving dividing it in the middle. In 2001, the teal color had given way to an all-black look and since then the Kiwis have stuck to the black jersey with some minor tweaks.

This time, however, the Kiwis have gone out to design the retro look that is bound to take down the memory lane for the fans of the game.

This time, however, the Kiwis have gone out to model the retro look that is bound to take down the memory lane for the fans of the game.

In the new look with the caption, the district of Cricket posted images of Martin Guptil, Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, and Tim Southee, “Thoughts on the @blackcapsnz T20 kit?? #AUSvNZ #cricket”

Meanwhile, Australia will also announce a new look jersey in the series inspired by their winning design for the ICC World Cup in 1999.

Recently, in the ODI series, they wore a retro look jersey against India and had raised some concerns for the fans.

The concerns are which of the models should be brought back to the T20 team.
