Players Placed Under Self Isolation As Ordered:
Upon their return from Australia, in the aftermath of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the New Zealand men’s cricket team, including support staff, was placed under self-isolation for a mandatory 14-day duration.
New Zealand Cricket reported on Thursday that all 15 players and support staff who returned last weekend from Sydney were in lockdown at home as ordered by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, stated a report.
Richard Boock, manager of public relations at the NZC said: “They (Black Caps players and touring staff) all went into self-isolation.”
“We’ve passed on all the information of what self-isolation entails and as far as we know they’re just strictly observing it” read reports.
The Kane Williamson led team had to return after the midway postponement of the three-match Chappell Hadlee series. The series ‘ first ODI was played on the Sydney Cricket Ground in front of empty stands where New Zealand suffered a 71-run loss.
The pandemic has also contributed to the postponement on March 24, 27 and 29 of Australia’s New Zealand tour which was to follow, where they were to play three T20Is.
Just like the Black Caps, after they returned from India following the cancelation of the three-match ODI series, the South African team was also put under self-isolation.

The complete cricketing fraternity has come to a standstill following the outbreak of coronavirus, which has left more than 5,000 people dead, and the spreading of infection continues. To curb this, the government of various countries and states have embarked upon the policy of self-isolation and have been sensitizing the issue among people to bring awareness on the ongoing pandemic. So, as people should undertake hygienic measures to keep the infection and the spread of coronavirus at bay.
