Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni began training alongside his squad at the Chepauk on 3 March 2020 for the upcoming IPL edition. Nevertheless, owing to the coronavirus outbreak the Indian Premier League was postponed, and all players were told to go home as a security measure. CSK tweeted a video from their training sessions with cricket, like most sports, in limbo because of the pandemic, where MS Dhoni can be seen enjoying playing football with some of the coaching staff. In the video, the former captain of India can be seen displaying his football skills.
Yesterday Delhi Capitals posted a similar video, where they saw their skipper Shreyas Iyer playing keeps-puppies during a training session.
MS Dhoni’s CSK was expected to face the Mumbai Indians of Rohit Sharma in the IPL opener scheduled for March 29,2020. With the IPL postponed, if everything goes according to plan, the match will now be played on April 15th, 2020.
MS Dhoni played 15 games in IPL 2019 and scored 416 runs, with an average 83.20 and a strike rate of 134.62. This was the fourth time in his IPL career that MS Dhoni has reached the 400-run mark.
For the T20 World Cup scheduled to be played in Australia from October, if Dhoni wants to be on the flight to Australia, he’ll be trying to make the most of this IPL.
With major sporting events being canceled worldwide due to the danger of coronavirus, BCCI will need to make sure they pull out all stops for the health of all those involved in the cash-rich competition.
