Mohammad Hafeez Opens Up On The Comparison With Kohli And Azam

Ever since Babar Azam made his international cricket, he has seen it as a future opportunity for the Pakistan team. The right-handed batsman has everything that makes a batsman great. So, the youngster compared to other subcontinent star and legend Virat Kohli.

Over the past few years, Azam has certainly done enough to compare it to Indian mythology. However, Azam is so young that who knows if he is playing this way, he can now break the records set by Kohli. Pakistan senior player Mohammed Hafeez has finally spoken out on this comparison between the two players.

Speaking on the debate and comparison between Babar Azam and Virat Kohli, the former Pakistan captain said it was not right to compare two batsmen. He thinks the two cannot be compared because there are no different sides.

‘It’s not right to compare these two’: Mohammad Hafeez

“According to me, Babar Azam and Virat Kohli are not comparable. Kohli is a brilliant cricketer, and he has performed all over the world, but Babar is also playing exceptionally well. There are two different sides, and there is no comparison,” Hafeez quoted Times Now.

Mohammed Hafeez quit the Pakistan ODI squad after the team failed to qualify for the World Cup semi-final last year. During the tournament, Hafeez’s appearance was so bad that he could only make one good knock. Earlier this year, given the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2020, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to recall veteran duo, Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik.

Speaking about his plans for retirement, Hafiz finally cleared the air. “I want to be honorably retired after playing the T20 World Cup later this year,” the 39-year-old said. However, Hafiz made it clear that he intends to continue playing in the T20 leagues. “I will continue to play T20 leagues around the world and perform with the bat as long as I am fit,” Hafeez said.

Mohammed Hafeez has a long career in Pakistan. He made his international debut in 2003, but his foot settled in 2009. He played 55 Tests, 218 ODIs, and 91 T20Is. In international cricket, he scored 12258 runs and took 246 wickets.
