Mitch Claydon Suspened For Applying Hand Santizer To Ball

Under Health Protocols Players Are Not Allowed To Use Saliva On Ball:

Fast bowler Mitch Claydon was suspended by the English County Club Sussex for applying a hand sanitizer to a cricket ball last month during the Bob Willis Trophy match against Middlesex. As a result, the 37-year-old Australian will no longer play in Sussex’s next game against Surrey

“Mitch Claydon is suspended pending the results of the ECB accusation of putting a hand sanitizer on the ball in our match against Middlesex. There will be no further comments at this time, “Sussex said in an official statement.

The act was performed by Claydon during the first innings of the match, in which he picked up three wickets. Earlier this year, the ICC specifically prohibited the use of saliva as a part of ball shine. Claydon is a veteran fast bowler who played 112 First-Class matches, 110 List-A games, and 147 T20I games. It has 310 FC wickets, including 11 five wicket-hauls and 9 10-for. In List A and T20, Claydon has 138 and 159 wickets, respectively.

South Africa’s David Wiese was included in the squad and will be available for selection, along with 16-year-old James Coles and 19-year-old Ali Orr.
