Michel Clarke Credited The Youth In The Team For Lifting The 2015 World Cup Title:
On Sunday (29th March 2020), former Australia cricket team skipper Michael Clarke remembered the remarkable final match of the 2015 World Cup against New Zealand at MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground).
In this match, the Australian players beat the Kiwis by 7 wickets and won the World Cup trophy for the fifth time. The credit of the legendary win goes to the outstanding performance of the bowlers, who limited the New Zealand team for only 183 runs. After the five years of the tremendous win, Michael Clarke gave credit to the young players for the win.
Michael Clarke said in an interview “Throughout the complete tournament, my message was to play with freedom.”
“The main thing regarding the team we have is we had a number of famous cricketers who always wanted to be on the big stage. On the team, there were many big egos and all they wanted the greater crowd, greater game and greater moment.”
He added that “According to me, it was all about our preparations and training for the game being so much important because then all I needed to do was allow all these star players like Maxwell, Faulkner, Smith, Warner, Starc to get on the stage and show their talent to the world and that is the thing what happened.”
He also noted that “Those young smart players won the historical 2015 World Cup title for us because they wished to shine on this world of cricket and wanted to show the whole world that how good they are, but they did very hard work to shine on the big stage. Us, the older players, we only sat back and clapped for them. They were just brilliant and unbelievable.”
