Shreyas Iyer Extremely Humbled To Join In Royal London Cup

Indian middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer is also a high-profile name in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and captained Delhi Capitals to the finals of the IPL 2020, for the first time in franchise history.

“Lancashire is a legendary name in English Cricket with a long-standing association with Indian Cricket. I am extremely humbled and honoured to carry the legacy forward of greats like Farokh Engineer, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman at Lancashire. Emirates Old Trafford is a world-class international stadium and I am looking forward to meeting my teammates and the supporters of the Club,” Shreyas Iyer said

Lancashire’s Director of Cricket, Paul Allott feels that his experience with captaincy and his current form will serve us well this summer.

“Shreyas has experience of captaining in an IPL final as well as playing in top-level international fixtures, so his on-field skills, and ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations, will serve our young squad well this summer. His current form against England has been hugely impressive and we’re looking forward to welcoming him to Lancashire Cricket and Emirates Old Trafford later this summer,” Lancashire’s Director of Cricket, Paul Allott said.

Iyer was in good form with the bat during India’s recent T20I series against England, scoring 121 runs in 5 games at an average of 40.33 with one half-century. The 26-year-old is now gearing up to face England in the upcoming 3-match ODI series in Pune which will begin
