Kuldeep Yadav On Playing IPL Behind Closed Doors

The 13th Indian Premier League (IPL) is due in its fourth week so far. It was supposed to begin on March 29, but because of the worldwide coronavirus outbreak, IPL was first postponed until April 15 and now has stopped until further notice by the BCCI. Although there are question marks on the league this year, the chances of a tournament later this year are still narrow.

Instead, the IPL has every chance of moving forward behind closed doors after normalcy returns in the next few months. Many former Indian cricketers are expected to kickstart IPL cricket after the ongoing pandemic. But are the players ready to play the tournament behind closed doors? As far as Kuldeep Yadav is concerned, the Chineseman believes bowlers are more comfortable to bowl without spectators.

In a recent conversation with Boria Majumdar at Fan code, the young spinner said that if the IPL is played behind closed doors, the bowlers will be less stressful. “One exciting thing is that any bowler loves it (playing behind closed doors). When the stands are full, it is easy for any batsman to come (and play his shots), and empty stands are a bonus for any bowler. I think it’s good for bowlers. Kuldeep said.

Kuldeep Yadav cited Chinnaswamy crowd’s example.

Kuldeep Yadav has cited the likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers against the bowling attack, particularly at the RCB’s home ground, Chinnaswamy Stadium. Speaking of this, he said bowlers are always under pressure in a jam-filled stadium, and empty stands give the bowlers an extra edge over the batsmen.

“Suppose you play against RCB at Chinnaswamy Stadium. It is always full. Then players like Virat Bhai and AB (de Villiers) are against any attack. So if you play in empty stands, it gives you an extra edge over batsmen. So empty seats make bowlers more comfortable, “he added.
