Rahul, who had captained the Punjab Kings for the past two seasons, was let go by the franchise upon expressing his interest in changing franchises. The Kings have placed 6th in the competition in each of the last 4 editions while being captained by Rahul in just two of them – 2020 and 2021.

Despite his captaincy tenure was not fruitful, Rahul has become one of the tournament’s most successful run-scorers, winning the Orange Cap for amassing the most runs in 2020 and finishing 3rd in 2021. KL could be captain choice for the Lucknow Franchises’.

The Karnataka-born got his IPL debut in 2013 with the Royal Challengers Bangalore before moving on to the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014. In 2016, he was returned to RCB before being signed by Punjab Kings (Kings XI Punjab) in the 2018 auction.

Stoinis, who began his IPL career with the Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils) in 2015, has also played for the Punjab and Bangalore teams, with Lucknow being his 4th IPL franchise.

Bishnoi, who made headlines with a record-breaking bowling effort at the 2020 U19 World Cup, has progressed through the ranks rapidly. Punjab signed him in 2020 for 2 crore, and he made an immediate impression with a 12-wicket record in his debut season. Bishnoi had the same number of wickets in 2021, but in 9 games as contrasting to 14 in the earlier season.

Furthermore, Ahmedabad the other new franchise along with Lucknow has confirmed their 3-player pool, namely Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill.
