Kumar Sangakkara, the former Sri Lankan cricket legend, has advised the under-fire Indian wicket-keeper-batsman, Rishabh Pant, to keep things simple and less complicated to gain his confidence back.
Pant has a wonderful track record in batting as well as in keeping wickets. He has scored hundreds against England and Australia. But as of now, he is really seeking to survive in the team owing to his poor performance both with the bat and behind the stumps.
The 42-year-old Sangakkara said, “It’s important for him (Pant) to keep things simple and understand his weakness so as to plan his strategy accordingly because for now, he shouldn’t take any pressure.” Sangakkara felt Pant needed to be “neat and tidy behind the stumps” as the youngster had been struggling in the T20I match series against Bangladesh.
Former Indian batting stalwart VVS Laxman agreed with Sangakkara but said that Pant has things to worry about as far as his batting is concerned. Laxman said, “As far as batting is concerned, I think Rishabh (Pant) will be under the scanner.”
