Sunrisers Hyderabad are having their worst IPL season so far under the captaincy of David Warner. They have managed to grab only 1 win from 6 games. David Warner has struggled in scoring runs throughout the tournament. More often than not, the Hyderabad skipper has gone into a shell in fear of losing wickets.
Kane Williamson To Led Sunrisers Hyderabad Side For Rest Of The Season
Sunrisers Hyderabad, on Saturday, announced that Kane Williamson is set to take over the role of captaincy from David Warner for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Kane Williamson has already led the SRH team in the 2019 season when Warner was serving out his one-year ball-tampering ban. SRH finished fourth in the competition under the New Zealand skipper’s leadership.
“Sunrisers Hyderabad would like to announce that Kane Williamson will be taking over the captaincy for tomorrow’s match and for the remainder of IPL 2021. “The team management has also made the decision that they will be changing their overseas combination for tomorrow’s match against Rajasthan Royals.
“This decision has not come lightly as the management respects the enormous impact David Warner has had for the franchise over a number of years. As we face the remainder of the season we are sure David will continue to help us strive for success both on and off the field,” SRH said in a statement.
Kane Williamson has always been in and out for SRH’s side with the issue of squad balance. There is one sure thing that Kane Williamson will be playing all remaining matches of the tournament.
Kane Williamson friendly disposition, relaxed strokeplay and clinical passion to complete the task in the team’s favour would have appealed to SRH to make him a captain and he looks a man in the form too.
SRH need to win all of their remaining games to have a strong chance of qualifying for the playoffs of IPL 2021. Target is quite ambitious but SRH players will be ready to give their best for the rest of the season.
