Kagiso Rabada, the South African pacer, has been banned for the final Test against England in Johannesburg. It is a major blow for the South African team.
The reason behind this ban is that in Port Elizabeth, he celebrated aggressively as he dismissed Joe Root. Rabada got Joe Root out on 27.
He is said to have screamed in a loud voice. It all happened very quickly during the visitors’ first innings.
Rabada has got one demerit point from the side of ICC. The meaning of this demerit point is that in two years, he has now collected four. This triggered his ban for a Test match.
Rabada Banned For Final Test
Rabada was found guilty for his celebrations on the ground. According to the report, “the language he used, the actions he used and the gesture he expressed, keeping in mind these things he was banned.”
Rabada got two demerit points during the ill-tempered Test series against Australia. After the infamous ball-tampering scandal, Steve Smith, David Warner, and Cameron Bancroft were also handed out bans in 2018.
Rabada collected his third demerit point when he celebrated the dismissal of Shikhar Dhawan earlier in the same year.
This type of incident has not happened for the first time with the young Proteas player. In 2017, in England, Rabada was penalized for his absence in the Trent Bridge Test, which was against the same opponents. But this time, it was in England.
