Jos Buttler Names Two Indian Legends Who Inspired Him To Play Cricket

England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler is one of the finest batsmen in white-ball cricket. He plays for Rajasthan Royals in IPL and in many interviews, he has always mentioned India as his second home. Buttler had his childhood heroes while growing up in high school and surprisingly both are Indian players.

Jos Buttler Inspiration on Cricket – He reveals his childhood heroes

In a recent interview, Buttler revealed his childhood inspirations and said – “Those were my formative years, and watching that game with Ganguly and Dravid scoring big hundreds had an incredible impact,”

Ganguly and Dravid are usually termed as the main pillars of Indian cricket. Their contribution towards their national side is immense and they were a part of many successful matches.

He has also revealed his first experience and said – “Ind vs SL, Taunton, 1999 World Cup was my first experience of seeing Indian crowds and that ignites the fire of how passionate people are about the game and how cool it would be to play in a World Cup,”.

Team India has not had a great start with the loss against Zimbabwe and South Africa in their first 2 games. But the champion side has retaliated to record three wins that took them through to the next stage.

In a match against Sri Lanka, Gangly and Dravid had an amazing time with the bat and the duo have added 318 runs to the team’s total. That was the record partnership for any wicket in ODI. In that partnership, Dravid contributed 145 and Ganguly contributed 183. Dada’s knock of 183 still remains the 2nd highest score ever in a world cup match. However, Sri Lanka was bowled out for 216 while chasing.

Jos Buttler had an incredible run in India right from the Indian Premier League to all the international matches that he has played in India. Currently, he is a great touch with the bat – but lacks inconsistency, if he fixes that one constraint and makes few adjustments in his batting form – Then he is unstoppable.
