James Anderson, like other sports figures around the world, is taking a break from cricket to stay safe from the coronavirus threat. The English fast bowler recently posted a light video on Instagram, where he can see lifting weights while training at home.
In the caption, Anderson says, “The girls are more than happy to help me train at home.” England is due to play the Test series against Sri Lanka later this month, which has now postponed due to coronavirus conditions.
James Anderson is one of England’s premier fast bowlers in Test cricket. The right-handed fast bowler played 151 Tests and took 584 wickets at an economy rate of 2.86 and a strike rate of 56.1. In ODIs, Anderson made 269 wickets in 194 games.
He is one of the few bowlers to have tested Indian captain Virat Kohli in the past. Anderson dismissed him five times in Test cricket, which many did not. Apart from Anderson, Nathan Lyon and Stuart Broad have also troubled Kohli in Test cricket.
Anderson was not included in the Test squad for Sri Lanka as he is still recovering from a rib injury suffered in Cape Town in the Test series against South Africa. As a security measure against coronavirus, the English Cricket Board has discontinued all forms of cricket, and this will affect its participation in the IPL starting from April 15.
