Jasprit Bumrah And Poonam Yadav Bag Top BCCI Awards

At the BCCI Annual Awards in Mumbai on Sunday, Jasprit Bumrah, the world’s leading pacer, got the most prominent prize of India cricket – the prestigious Polly Umrigar Award for the best universal cricketer (2018-19). Poonam Yadav, right arm leg breaker, was named as the best ladies cricketer. The Indian cricket board made this declaration through social media.

Jasprit Bumrah was selected for the greatest prize in the men’s category:

In January 2018, Bumrah made his Test debut on India’s tour of South Africa. After that, he hasn’t looked back. In South Africa, West Indies, England, and Australia he got five-wicket hauls. He became the solitary Asian bowler to accomplish the achievement. Bumrah played an ultimate role in the momentous 2-1 Test series win in Australia that helped India lift the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

While Bumrah got the greatest prize in the men’s classification, in ladies’ classification Poonam Yadav bagged the top prize. Anjum Chopra was honored will be another award after she got the Arjuna Award recently.

Anjum Chopra will get Lifetime Achievement Award:

Anjum Chopra will be awarded the Board Of Control for Cricket in India Lifetime Achievement Award. Also, she was awarded Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award for women separately by Krishnamachari Srikkanth, the previous Indian Captain.

An individual player from the 1983 World Cup-winning group, Srikkanth scored a 38 against the intimidating   West Indies quick bowlers in the final. This is the top individual score in the low-scoring match at the Lord’s. Srikkanth also captained India, and post-retirement filled in as the main selector, and it was during his residency that the 2011 World Cup squad was picked.

Anjum, who got Padma Shri in 2014, is currently a cricket commentator. She was one of the best batswomen, a motivational speaker, author, and the first Indian to play 100 Women’s ODIs. In 17 years of cricket, Anjum played both ODI, Tests and represented India in four 50-over World Cups and two T20 World Cups.
