Pat Cummins has made a fantastic start to his Test captaincy tenure, leading Australia to a 4-0 triumph over archrival England in the Ashes 2021-22 series. Despite he did lead tremendously well in that series, Cummins also set a new career record. In addition, the pacer became the first skipper to achieve a five-wicket haul in an Ashes Test since 1982. Here is all about Justin Langer’s Coaching Contract Extension.

Furthermore, despite all of the on-field success, Australia has been struggling with Justin Langer’s coaching tenure, as Cricket Australia has still yet to confirm his contract renewal. Pat Cummins has stated that he has appreciated collaborating with the national cricket team’s present head coach, Justin Langer.

He has also stated that, while he has a great deal of respect for Langer, the decision over his career as the Australian team coach isn’t really his to decide. The tenure of the lefty is likely to expire this year.
“It’s in Cricket Australia’s hands. JL’s been doing a fantastic job, he’s been there for four years, his contract is obviously up soon, they’re just going through an evaluation process at the moment, which I think is fair, the right thing to do,” said Cummins.
“We all get evaluated all the time as cricketers. It’s part of a high-performance environment. That process is happening, it’s a decision for Cricket Australia and we just have to wait. That’s Cricket Australia’s job, it’s not my job. I’ve really loved my time working with JL”.
“There’s been a process, I’ve been part of that, a lot of other players have been part of that. It’s just like when we get evaluated. I’ve got huge respect for JL, I’ve really liked working with him, but it’s not my call,” the pacer added.
Furthermore, it is yet to be seen if Justin Langer will be re-appointed as Australia’s coach following the country’s previous two remarkable victories. Despite losing the home Test series against a weakened Indian side last year, Australia produced a spectacular recovery by winning their first T20 World Cup and comfortably retaining the Ashes.
If Langer’s contract is extended, it will be exciting to watch how long he stays with the five-time world champions as they try to defend their T20 World Cup title on their own soil.
