It’s Comedy Cricket And That Is The Biggest Issue: David Lloyd

In the Ind Test versus England, Team India put up a dominant performance, winning by 151 runs at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground. It was an exciting win since for the majority of the game, both teams were neck-and-neck. At the outset of Day 5, India’s victory appeared to be the most unlikely conclusion. The bowlers, on the other hand, responded to the challenge and bowled England out in 2 sessions. Here is David Lloyd About IND vs ENG 2nd Test Match.

Batters Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Ajinkya Rahane all had useful innings earlier in the game. Apart from Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow, none of England’s batsmen appeared to be strong in the middle.

Former England cricketer David Lloyd slammed his compatriots for the same reason. Lloyd had reservations over England’s top-order, claiming that Rory Burns, Dominic Sibley, and Haseeb Hameed showed commitment.

Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri knew they could get under England’s skin: Lloyd

“Look at India’s opening pair. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul stand correctly and even though they are facing England’s greatest ever bowler in Anderson they find ways to defend and score. Our top three seem to have no intention of scoring — they are just on a massive blockathon! It’s a broken record with Root always trying to get them out of an almighty scrape,” Lloyd told the Daily Mail.

“In 57 years I have never seen an opening pair stand like Rory Burns and Dom Sibley do. Ever! It’s comedy cricket and that is the biggest issue,” he added.

As previously stated, England was in a commanding position at stumps on Day 4. With only 4 wickets in hand, the visitors held a 154-run lead. Rishabh Pant was also ejected in the opening 15 minutes of the game.

However, England was startled when Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami scored 89 runs for the 9th wicket. England’s loss remained improbable since they just needed to survive a little more than 2 sessions.

They were unable to accomplish so and were taken out for 120 runs as a result. Lloyd praised India’s effort, saying that captain Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri were confident in their ability to dominate the Three Lions.

“Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri knew they could get under England’s skin. England were too meek and mild. They didn’t have enough leaders to say: ‘Right, we’ll go right back at them,’” the 74-year-old said.
