It’s Silly If Players Don’t Play Warm-up Games: Vaughan

The five-match Test series involving England and India will be both teams’ first in the World Test Championship’s second cycle (WTC). And that it’s safe to assume that both teams will want to commence their campaigns on a strong note. Here is the opinion Vaughan On England Test Series preparations

Vaughan On England Test Series preparations

Former cricketer England captain, Michael Vaughan is dissatisfied with his country’s preparations for the Test series versus India. The fact that England Test players do not play warm-up games prior to the Test series, according to Vaughan, is “silly.”

Vaughan also said that England’s officials may have to inform the players that they would not be able to compete in The Hundred and will instead focus on red-ball cricket.

“It is silly that we don’t give our players one or two games facing the red-ball to prepare for a Test series. It is about management, and you might have to say to players you can’t play in The Hundred,” said Vaughan while talking on BBC.

Michael Vaughan also believes that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) must have organized at least 4 to 5 rounds of County Cricket to keep players notably Dom Sibley and Haseeb Hameed in line with the game’s longest format on a regular basis.

There should have been four or five rounds of County Championship cricket: Vaughan

If first-class cricket continues to expand, with guys scoring hundreds and scalping wickets, the 46-year-old former England captain believes it will put greater pressure on players who are defending England in Test matches but not contributing for the team.

“In the last four or five weeks, there should have been four or five rounds of County Championship cricket so players that are just Test players like Dom Sibley and Haseeb Hameed would have been playing cricket. It is also important to have that cricket while Test is going on so people can make centuries, and take five-wicket hauls, and put pressure on the people that are playing in the Test team and not delivering,” concluded Michael Vaughan.

The series is presently tied at 0-0 after the first Test match between the 2 nations finished in a draw.
