“Ishan Kishan Has Got A Lot Of Confidence From Rohit Sharma”- Uttam Mazumdar

India and Jharkhand’s wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan’s childhood coach Uttam Mazumdar had credited stylish opener and Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma’s instilling the art of batting fearlessly in the 22-year-old.

Ishan Kishan has been playing under the leadership of Rohit Sharma since IPL 2018. Last year, Kishan opened the innings for the Mumbai Indians besides also playing in the middle-order and smashed as many as 516 runs at an average of 57 with four half-centuries which also includes a season debut match 99 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Ishan’s confidence while batting was seen by coach Mazumdar in a very early stage. Ishan Kishan was only five years old when his father, Pranakh Kumar Panday, introduced Uttam Masudar’s coach at the Moinulhak Stadium in Patna. Mazumdar later decided to take Ishan under his wings.

“Ishan Kishan has got a lot of confidence from Rohit. He has played a lot of cricket under Rohit’s captaincy. Ishan has learned the art of playing fearlessly from Rohit. Rohit is his mentor and captain at Mumbai Indians. The last IPL, allowed him to open the innings in the UAE. Rohit asked him to open alongside him. Rohit taught Ishan how to play fearless cricket. Ishan is fortunate to have a captain like Rohit,” Ishan Kishan’s childhood coach Uttam Mazumdar further told Time of India.
