IPL 2021 featured 29 games before being indefinitely suspended. Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore topped the table during different stages of the league. There have been quite a few players who have left a lasting impression. Most valuable player from each team this Season who have bailed them out from difficult positions. A classic example was Ravindra Jadeja’s superlative performance against RCB.
We at StumpsandBails bring to you the MVP of each team up until this point in IPL 2021:
#8 Sunrisers Hyderabad
Most Valuable Player From Each Team This Season. Rashid Khan has been the standout performer for SRH in this shambles of an IPL campaign. As long as Rashid Khan is bowling, SRH seem to have a say in the game. They have been so dependent on him this season especially post the injury-laid absence to Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T. Natarajan. Khan has picked up 10 wickets in 7 games conceding runs at just 6.14 per over.
#7 Kolkata Knight Riders
It may come as a surprise for many but the truth is Pat Cummins is the MVP for KKR up until the halfway of IPL 2021. Cummins has scored 93 runs averaging 31 and striking at 166. He has had a comparatively good season with the ball too considering the fate of other KKR bowlers. Cummins has picked up 9 wickets in 7 games. His strike rate of 17.88 is impressive.
#6 Punjab Kings
Deepak Hooda helped Kings win the first game this season. His breathtaking 28 balls 62 was a fabulous knock that set the tempo for the Punjab franchise. Hooda has scored 116 runs at a strike rate of 143. He has been handy with the ball too. Hooda has conceded runs at just 7.07 after bowling 14 overs. Hence Hooda is Kings’ MVP.
#5 Rajasthan Royals
The fact that Rajasthan Royals are fifth in the points table is thanks to Chris Morris’s all-round show in IPL 2021. He has won RR games with both bat and the ball. Morris has picked 14 wickets at an average of 16 and a brilliant strike rate of 11.14. He has smashed runs at 154.83.
#4 Mumbai Indians
The fact that an underfiring Rohit Sharma is Mumbai Indians’ MVP this season speaks volumes about MI’s below-par performance in IPL 2021. Sharma has scored 250 runs in 7 games at an average of 35.71. His strike rate of 128.20 is decent if not extraordinary.
#3 Royal Challengers Bangalore
Harshal Patel leads the race among MVP this season. He is the purple cap holder at this junction. Patel has already picked up 17 wickets in 7 games that means more than 2 wickets per game. He has proven to be an asset to RCB.
#2 Chennai Super Kings
If there is one player who has completely changed the fortunes of his team, then that player is Moeen Ali. CSK now look like a completely different outfit. It is largely down to Ali’s brilliance, especially with the bat. He has scored 206 runs in 6 games at an average of 34.33 and with a strike rate of 157.25. Ali has chipped in with the ball too picking up 5 wickets at an average of 14.80. His economy rate of 6.16 is stellar.
#1 Delhi Capitals
Avesh Khan is one of the most improved players in the IPL. Khan has picked up 14 wickets in 8 games at an average of 16.50. His strike rate of 12.85 is hugely impressive. Khan has impressed each and everyone with his skill set and temperament. He is DC’s MVP.
