Indian Premier League will begin on 19th September in UAE:
The most awaiting tournament Indian Premier League (IPL) will set to start on 19th September in the United Arab Emirates and final match is scheduled to be held on 8th November, on Thursday, a higher BCCI official said to PTI.
On condition of secrecy, a senior BCCI official told that “IPL will begin on 19th September (Saturday) and the final match will be held on 8th November (Sunday). The complete tournament is a 51-day window, which will comfortable to the franchises and also the broadcasters as well as other stakeholders.
The cash-rich tournament IPL has been made possible because of the postponement decision of the T20 World Cup by ICC, which was earlier scheduled to be held in October-November window in Australia. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Australia denied hosting this event.
While there were assumptions that IPL will start from 26th September, the Indian Cricket Board, BCCI decided to move ahead it by a week to ensure that the Australia tour of the Indian team is not endangered.
According to the government rules of Australia, the Indian team will have compulsory 14 days quarantine. A delay in this quarantine period would have trouble the entire plan.
The official said “The best part is that the scheduled 51 days is not a shortened time period and there will be the minimum number of doubleheaders. We could continue with the main five doubleheaders in seven weeks time period.”
It is also predicted that every side requires a minimum of one month’s time to get trained, the franchises will be ready to go by 20th August which provides them accurate 1-month time preparation.
