IPL Changed Me As A Cricketer, Importantly As A Person: Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell has been a stalwart of the Australian team for the previous decade and is regarded as one of the most innovative and aggressive hitters in the sport. Aside from his ability to do the classic change knock and also makes a significant contribution in the middle order, Maxwell is also known for his ability to bag the wickets with his right arm off-break along with his spectacular fielding efforts. Maxwell thoughts on IPL.

The Australian power-hitter has been participating in the IPL since 2012 but emerged after joining the Mumbai Indians lineup that clinched their maiden championship in 2013. He was perhaps the most expensive signing of the tournament, having MI paid one million US dollars. The Royal Challengers Bangalore have kept the two-time World Cup winner, and now he has discussed what starring in the showpiece competition means to him.

Maxwell thoughts on IPL :

I probably wasn’t as culturally aware as a young player about India: Maxwell

“The IPL has changed my life in an amazing way that I have been able to meet some of my heroes, some of the people I have admired playing for and against. IPL has changed me as a cricketer, changed me as a person. I probably wasn’t as culturally aware as a young player about India. The people that I have met, the things that I have learned from the IPL have helped me as a cricketer and more importantly as a person”, said Maxwell.

“I owe the IPL a hell of a lot because it has also helped me as an international cricketer. I have been able to adapt to different situations which I never thought I would do ever”, he added.

Following his release by Punjab Kings due to poor performance in the 2020 edition, RCB has shown trust in the Australian all-rounder during the 2021 IPL mini-auction and signed him for INR 14.25 Cr. The T20 World Cup winner responded by allowing his bat to do the talking, upon concluding the season as the three-time finalist highest run-scorer with 513 runs.
