We will take a call on the venues for the knockout stages later: Sourav Ganguly

“It will be held in India this year, until and unless COVID-19 hits the roof. As far as venues are concerned, we are looking at hosting the matches in Maharashtra – Mumbai, and Pune. We will take a call on the venues for the knockout stages later,” said Sourav Ganguly.

The huge auction for the IPL 2022 is planned to take place on February 12-13 in Bangalore, and it needs to be seen whether teams will exhibit their finest approaches. The pool of players who have enrolled for the auction is now available, with over 590 cricketers slated to go under the hammer.

Teams will be hunting for their captains in this giant auction, and franchises like PBKS will be entering with a big payout. On the other side, it is yet to be seen if the event can be effectively staged in India, since the 2021 season was forced to be cancelled owing to the increase of COVID cases in the camps.

Due to the same considerations, it was eventually hosted in the UAE, and the full 2020 season was contested in the UAE. In addition, many Indian players and staff personnel have came back positive for COVID-19 before India’s white-ball series versus the West Indies, worsening the situation.
