IPL 2022: Week Seven Review -Top 10 Batsmen

Top 10 Batsmen End of Week Seven: Jos Buttler needs to pull out something special in the coming few games to topple Virat Kohli’s 2016 record. It just proves how special was Kohli that season. Buttler currently has 627 runs to his name. He is the orange cap holder. The gap between the first and the second-ranked batsman remains quite wide. But the others on the list are breathing down each other’s necks.

We Look at The Top 10 Batsmen at The End Of Week Seven:

#10 Tilak Varma (368)

He is Mumbai Indians’ highest run-getter so far. Tilak Varma is surely one for the future. In his maiden IPL, he has notched up 368 runs in 12 games at an average of 40.89. His strike rate of 132.85 is pretty good!

#9 Abhishek Sharma (374)

He drops another spot (number 9) this week. Abhishek Sharma has had to do the bulk of the scoring in the powerplay owing to Kane Williamson’s indifferent form. Sharma has scored 374 runs in 12 games at an average of 31.17. His strike rate of 134.53 is impressive.

#8 Liam Livingstone (385)

He has made a stunning entry to this list. Liam Livingstone has pummelled 385 runs in 12 games. He goes after the bowling right from ball one. Livingstone has staged brilliant counterattacks this season. He averages 35 but his strike rate of 180.75 is pure box-office.

#7 Faf du Plessis (399)

The RCB skipper could just add 10 more runs to his tally this week. He is one (399) shy of the 400-runs club this season. Faf averages 33.25 in 13 games striking at 132.55 so far.

#6 Shikhar Dhawan (402)

The PBKS opener has dropped two spots this week. He added 21 runs more to his kitty in week seven. Shikhar Dhawan has had another 400 runs season. He has scored 402 runs in 12 games so far. He averages 40.20 but his strike rate of 122.93 is a bit of a dampener.

#5 Shubman Gill (402)

He has made significant gains this week. Shubman Gill has been the glue around which the GT’s batting has revolved. He has scored a total of 402 runs in 13 games at an average of 33.50. Gill’s strike rate of 135.35 is pretty good for an opener.

#4 Deepak Hooda (406)

He is another batsman who has made tremendous gains. Deepak Hooda was LSG’s lone warrior in both the games in week seven. For the first time in IPL, Hooda has breached the 400-runs (406) mark. His runs have come at an average of 31.23. He has struck at 133.55 in the 13 completed games.

#3 David Warner (427)

The Delhi Capitals opener made all the right moves this week. He jumped two spots up to number 3 in the run-charts. David Warner has scored 427 runs so far in just 10 games at an average of 61. His strike rate of 152.50 is brilliant too.

#2 KL Rahul (469)

The reason behind LSG’s twin failures this week was due to KL Rahul’s non-performance at the top. Rahul added just 18 more to his count this week. He has now scored 469 runs in 13 games at an average of 42.64. His strike rate has dropped 10 points to 135.54.

#1 Jos Buttler (627)

The RR opener couldn’t add much to his sixth-week tally. Jos Buttler had a rather forgettable week seven. His tally still stands head and shoulders above others on the list. Buttler has amassed 627 runs in 13 games at an average of 52.55. His strike rate has dipped slightly to 148.22
