IPL 2021: How Jason Roy Can Help SRH Qualify For the Playoffs

Sunrises Hyderabad finally won a match in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League 2021 season after 5 consecutive losses. SRH dominated RR in Match 40 of the IPL 2021 as the Hyderabad-based side won the game by 7 wickets. This was SRH’s second win in the season. Here is How Jason Roy Can Help SRH to Qualify For the Playoffs.

Here is How Jason Roy Can Help SRH to Qualify For the Playoffs

A lot has already happened in the SRH camp so far in the season, which majorly included David Warner in every scenario. David Warner-led SRH started the season in an awful manner. The Australian seemingly went out of favours as he was replaced by New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson at the helm of SRH.

Kane Williamson, who didn’t even feature for most of the games in IPL 2021, was appointed as SRH’s skipper. Williamson made a firm decision of dropping out-of-form David Warner from the side. However, IPL 2021 had to get suspended due to the rise in the COVID-19 cases in India as SRH was handed some time to sort out their team.

SRH along with the other IPL teams flew to the UAE to continue with their season. However, SRH opener Jonny Bairstow opted out of the tournament due to personal reasons. Tom Moody and Kane Williamson were convinced to start SRH’s batting with Warner once again.

However, Warner failed to thrive in UAE as well as he scored (0) and (3) in the first two games of the re-start. Warner’s abysmal form forced Williamson to rope in English international Jason Roy in-place of the Australian. And interestingly, it turned out to be a great decision.

SRH skipper Kane Williamson had only good things to talk about Roy. “Any team he comes in he (Roy) brings that, did what he does take the game and it’s nice to see him do well. Nice contribution for him,” said Williamson in the post-match interview.

Speaking on the win, Williamson said that the game cleared everyone’s roles to themselves on the SRH side. “It’s a good feeling, some real clarity in roles as well and it’s nice to be back to winning ways. There were a couple of periods of play that were quite significant and we closed nicely with the ball and to get off the start with the bat like that and it was never easy, had to weather some storms with the ball holding up. It’s nice to finish with a win,” he said.

How Jason Roy Can Still Lift SRH?

Jason Roy scored a fifty on his first match for SRH. Roy’s innings of 42-ball 60 made the chase easier for Hyderabad. Adding to that, Roy looked comfortable with the shots he was playing. The Englishman looked comfortable in the playing condition and didn’t seem to have any trouble while facing RR bowlers.

SRH can still end their season on a high if Jason Roy gets going. It will be better for SRH if David Warner returns to the playing XI and find his form back. The world-class trio of Roy, Warner and Williamson can hand the SRH fans something to cherish for this season. SRH still have 4 games in hand and they have a minute chance of still making it to the playoffs.

David Warner took his Instagram to appreciate Roy for his knock:
