IPL 2021: Chris Lynn Requests Cricket Australia To Arrange Charter Flight To Fly Players Back Home

COVID rise in India is known to everyone and in the ongoing IPL Tournament, overseas players are considering going back home. Three prime Australian cricketers – Adam Zampa, Kane Richardson and Andrew Tye have already ditched their IPL groups and withdrawn from the remainder of the IPL.

Chris Lynn, a member of the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad has requested Cricket Australia to book a charter flight for his compatriots once the Indian Premier League is over. Due to a surge in the number of covid-19 cases in India, Chris Lynn expounded that since CA makes 10% from every IPL contract of the Australian players, the latter might help its sportsperson fly home securely.

“I texted back that as Cricket Australia make 10% of every IPL contract was there a chance we could spend that money this year on a charter flight once the tournament is over?” Lynn told News Corp media.

“I know there are people worse off than us. But we are going from a really tight bubble and are getting vaccinated next week, so hopefully, the government will let us get home on a private charter,” Lynn stated.

AU Prime Minister Scott Morrison: No Special Treatment For Cricketers Until 15th May

Australia has decided to stop flights from India and other red-zone countries due to the ongoing pandemic. Prime Minister Scott Morrison warned there would be no special treatment for cricketers. Lynn was speaking before Australia suspended flights from India until at least May 15 on Tuesday.

“They [cricketers] have travelled there privately under those arrangements, this wasn’t part of an Australian tour,” Morrison said. “They are under their own resources and they’ll be using those resources, I’m sure, to seek to return to Australia in accordance with our own arrangements.” He added.

IPL players and staff are following all the strict Bio bubble rules but however, players can be at an intermediate risk to be in contact with the virus while playing and changing cities.

IPL’s regular legends on May 23, with qualifiers and eliminators to follow before the final on May 30. BCCI would be prioritising that players finish the tournament and reach back home safely.
