New Zealand Cricket will issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs):
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) will issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to each and every player of New Zealand, who are set to play in the Indian Premier League. But they have to take care of “due diligence” on health safety protocols.
The IPL contracted New Zealand players are Sunriser Hyderabad’s Kane Williamson, Kolkata Knight Rider’s Lockie Ferguson, Kings XI Punjab’s James Neesham, Chennai Super King’s Mitchell Santner, and Mumbai Indian’s Trent Boult and Mitchell McClenaghan.
The spokesperson of NZC, Richard Boock told “About the IPL, NZC will be issuing No Objection Certificates to the six players and it is up to them to take the decision.”
The Indian Premier League is scheduled to be held in UAE from 19th September to 8th November. This IPL decision made possible only because ICC took the decision to postpone the T20 World Cup, which was scheduled to be held in October-November window.
While the New Zealand Cricket Board will be updating about the health safety protocols to the players and about the developments on the COVID-19, the decision will be on the six IPL contracted players to perform their own due diligence.
Boock further said “Well, issuing NOCs to the players is happened on the basis of case-by-case and it is very rare that the players are ever said no to it. However, due diligence is the responsibility of players- although we are happy to give them as much info as we can to handle the matters.”
Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand recently told that they want to know more regarding the health safety protocols.
Boock said New Zeland Cricket Board doesn’t have any opinion on the Indian Premier League happening in the UAE because it is not coming in our board’s limit.
Apart from players, many other people involved in this league, such as Stephen Fleming is the head coach of CSK, Mike Hesson is the director of cricket operations of RCB, while Shane Bond is the bowling coach of Mumbai Indians. On the commentary panel also, both Simon Doull and Danny Morrison have been regulars.
