ABOUT THE MATCH:
Mumbai Indians, the table-toppers will be locking horns against currently the 3rd place side in the table, Royal Challengers Bangalore at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi in the 48th match of Indian Premier League.
Here’s our Match Prediction for the 48th Match where MI take on RCB.
A lot is at stake for both the teams here, as both of them are coming off loses from their previous game. Their earlier encounter in the league ended up in a super-over where RCB got the better of MI eventually. Two teams would love to get back to their winning ways to avoid any hiccups at the last moment. MI has an upper hand overall with 18 victories over RCB as compared to their 10 wins against them.
MATCH PREVIEW:
Mumbai Indians:
Rohit Sharma being unfit comes as a big blow to the plans of MI especially at the back end of the tournament, even though Kieron Pollard does seem like a natural leader but MI would sure have wanted Rohit in their team.
The bowling attack was taken to shreds by RR and this is something which the management would be looking keenly at. Their bowling has widely been considered the best of the tournament, the team would be hoping the match against RR was an exception.
PROBABLE PLAYING XI:
Quinton de Kock (wk), Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Saurabh Tiwary, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard (C), Krunal Pandya, Rahul Chahar, James Pattinson, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah
Team Report:
MI has been playing well by and large and we don’t think they need to make any changes to their team combination. They have played like champions on more occasions than one and would love to do that for few more matches this season.
Royal Challengers Bangalore:
They have done exceedingly well this tournament with their last match against CSK being a jarring exception. They would have in fact liked that one of their off-games has come prior to the play-offs and they would be looking to carry forward the winning momentum.
RCB would like to be more expressive with their batting and would love to capitalize during the middle overs where they have been far too conservative this season.
PROBABLE PLAYING XI:
Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli (C), Ab De Villiers (wk), Moeen Ali, Gurkeerat Mann, Chris Morris, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Navdeep Saini, Mohammad Siraj
Team Report:
RCB has been performing well as a unit this year and look title contenders for sure, thanks to their team balance. We quite like the addition of Moeen Ali to the mix, which gives the likes of Kohli and AB to play more freely.
PITCH REPORT:
MI vs RR game was a run feast and we expect the pitch to play the same in this match too. Longer boundaries at one side of the pitch makes the life that bit easier for spinners. Pacers have found help in the earlier stages of the match with the ball doing just that little bit to trouble the opening batsman.
Slight dew is expected which could help the chasing team, but expect both these teams to win the toss, put the runs on board and rely on their bowling attack to defend it.
WEATHER CONDITION:
The weather is predicted to be sunny tomorrow. Wind velocity is expected to be around 3 km/hour. The daytime temperature is going to hit 31° C and the temperature is going to drop to 25° C at night. Humidity is expected to hover around 54%
PROBABLE TOP PERFORMERS:
MUMBAI INDIANS:
Kieron Pollard
The big man has not fired in the last couple of games and he would definitely be itching to make a mark against one of his favourite teams, RCB.
ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE:
Ab De Villiers
The Superman from South Africa failed to go big in the previous game against CSK and would be itching to make his presence felt against a gun side like RCB.

PROBABLE WINNING TEAM:
Both teams have the firepower to go all the way in this tournament. There is little to separate the two sides as was evident from their earlier encounter in the competition, where a super over was needed to decide the winner.
MI with a better run rate have a slight cushion as compared to RCB, but expect Kohli and his men to come out all guns blazing.
