RCB Had Started Their Journey In IPL 2020 Season With A Victory Over SRH:
With a victory over SunRisers Hyderabad on Monday, Royal Challengers Bangalore kicked off their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 bid. Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), who lost a Super Over thriller against Delhi Capitals at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday, will now be up against the Bengaluru-based franchise.
With the exception of Captain Virat Kohli, top-order RCB fired in their season opening match. With the likes of Mohammed Shami and Sheldon Cottrell leading the attack for KXIP, Kohli will be up against another tough bowling line-up.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
1. Virat Kohli
In his first competitive game since the coronavirus pandemic brought cricket to a standstill, Virat Kohli scored just 14 runs. Kohli will be hoping to get a major knock under his belt to set the stage for the rest of the tournament after playing a game in Dubai and having an understanding of the conditions.
2. Devdutt Padikkal
In his debut IPL game, the young opening batsman Devdutt Padikkal impressed one and all. Padikkal scored 56 runs and, along with Aaron Finch, gave a perfect start to the innings. In IPL 2020, the youngster will hope to repeat what he did against SunRisers Hyderabad and assist RCB to continue the momentum.
3. Yuzvendra Chahal
After recording a 10-run victory against SunRisers Hyderabad, RCB skipper Virat Kohli was full of praise for his leg-spinner. By taking two wickets in two balls, Chahal changed the game in the 16th over. As RCB takes on KXIP in Dubai, Kohli will be hoping for a similar performance from his spinner.
Kings XI Punjab
1. KL Rahul
During his short stay at the crease against Delhi Capitals, the Kings XI Punjab captain looked fine but was outdone by a peach of a delivery by Mohit Sharma. Last season in the IPL, KL Rahul had a dream run with the bat and that helped him win this year’s captaincy job. Like RCB, KXIP are always going to get their hands on the coveted IPL cup, and if they want to go all the way this year, KL Rahul has to be fantastic for the franchise.
2. Mohammed Shami
After nearly six months, playing competitive cricket did not hamper the line and length of Shami as he bowled a brilliant spell against Delhi Capitals to launch his IPL 2020 campaign. In KXIP’s first match, the pacer picked up three wickets, giving away only 15 runs. Shami will be a key player for the Punjab-based franchise when they take on Virat Kohli-led RCB in Dubai.
3. Mayank Agarwal
In the first game, Mayank Agarwal almost got Kings XI Punjab home, but despite his heroics with the bat, KXIP lost against Delhi Capitals in the Super Over. As he smashed 89 runs off just 60 deliveries, Agarwal looked fluent and will be looking to continue his good run with the bat.
