The ECB is waiting for the formal nod from the Indian government:
The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) is waiting for the formal acknowledgment from the government of India to sign the final deal with the Indian cricket board, BCCI, after getting an official letter from the BCCI for organizing the 13th edition of IPL.
Brijesh Patel, the IPL Governing Council chairman told to the media that the two cricket boards have completely mobilized and have started discussions with the proper authorities, along with their particular working groups to host the league between 19th September and 10th November, ECB secretary-general Mubashshir Usmani announced on Monday (27-07-2020).
Usmani Statement:
Usmani said “There are so many elements which control the logistics and operations of organizing what is the most famous, exciting and cash-rich tournament. It is a major decision of individuals and equipment. And now we have to discuss all plans of UAE hosting the IPL.
This includes Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah Sports Councils, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah Tourism Bodies as well as the Government bodies like the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, Police Forces, all have has very strong, well experience in these types of works and we will work combine to determine the best to give the best results.”
For the ECB, it is not a new thing, as, in the 2014 edition of IPL, the first 20 matches were held in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah due to general elections. This time, COVID-19 has introduced a different side to the organization.
Furthermore, Usmani said “At first, we are very much happy with how the government of UAE responded to the coronavirus, which was started in February and we are seeing developing numbers all over the country-in lessening numbering and boosting recoveries. Secondly, we will completely support any needs set by the Health Authorities to COVID-19 safety measures as well as management.
