IPL 2020 Auction: Glenn Maxwell And Dale Steyn Among 332 Players To Be Auctioned

As per a report, 332 players will be available at the IPL auction to be held in Kolkata on December 19. Team Australia’s player, Glenn Maxwell, and former South African cricketer, Dale Steyn, are among those popular players whose base price is Rs 2 crore. As per the official IPL statement, “While there are 997 players who had initially got registered their names for the auction, the final list has been on the process once after the eight franchises submit their chosen players list.”

Aussie Mitchell Marsh and Sri Lanka’s seasoned player, Angelo Mathews, are also among those who have opted for the Rs 2 crore base price. There only 73 places that need to be filled in the eight franchises, of which only 29 can be overseas players. The Indian cricketer, Robin Uthappa, who was released by KKRlast month, is the only player from India in the IPL auction list with a base price of Rs 1.5 crore.

The Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, who will be playing his first IPL, has also joined in the highest base price list alongside his bowling partner Pat Cummins, who earlier played for KKR, Delhi Capitals, and Mumbai Indians.

Maxwell, who had recently taken time off from cricket to deal with his mental health issues, has made a comeback to the IPL auction after refusing to play in the last edition, just like Aaron Finch. Finch too has made a comeback with a base price of Rs 1 crore. 

Chris Lynn, who also is an Australian, is expected to go at a good price at the auction next week after his release by KKR Team. Other Indian cricketers, who are part of this IPL auction, are Yusuf Pathan (Released by Sunrisers Hyderabad), Piyush Chawla (KKR), and Jaydev Unadkat (Rajasthan Royals). These three have a base price of Rs 1 crore.

A total of 186 Indian players, 143 overseas players and three players from Associate Nations, who will be part of this auction to try and get a place in these teams, according to ANI.

A total of seven players are in the highest base price list of Rs 2 crore, 10 in Rs 1.5 crore list and 23 in Rs 1 crore bracket. There are 183 uncapped players, who are in the Rs 20 lakh category. In addition, there are seven players in Rs 40 lakh and eight players in Rs 30 lakh brackets.
