It’s an – End of an era for some significant players. Some legendary players after playing for their nation for many years have left the game and few players quit unexpectedly after getting entangled in a few controversies.
Significant retirements of key players from their respective nations herald the end of an era.
Here is the list of international cricketers who announced their retirement in 2019.
1. YUVRAJ SINGH
The National 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh announced his retirement on June 10, 2019. After playing the role of a perfect all-rounder for the Indian team for 18 long years, he declared his retirement from international cricket. He will always be remembered as a fighting cricketer in all cricket fans’ hearts.
2. HASHIM AMLA
This South Africa opener announced his retirement from international cricket in August 2019. Amla, who played for the South African team for 15 years, was one of the players in making his team one of the strongest in the world.
3. AMBATI RAYADU
The Indian middle-order batsman decided to retire after the selectors did not include him in the World Cup squad. He announced retirement from all formats of international cricket in July 2019.
4. PETER SIDDLE
Australia fast bowler Peter Siddle announced his retirement on 29th December. He is one of the favorite Australia players around the world.
5. DALE STEYN
The greatest fast bowler in South Africa team history announced his exit from Test cricket after suffering from multiple injuries in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 and other matches.
6. IMRAN TAHIR
The South African legendary spinner announced his retirement from international cricket following his country’s exit from the World Cup 2019.
7. JP DUMINY
Another South African batsman announced his retirement after the conclusion of the 2019 ICC World Cup. This left-handed batsman announced his retirement from Tests in 2017.
8. LASITH MALINGA
The Legendary Sri Lanka bowler Lasith Malinga hung up his boots in international cricket in July. His magical bowling action will be remembered by every cricket fan around the world.
9. NUWAN KULASEKARA
