Inglis To Be The Next Wicket Keeper After Tim Paine: Warne

Former Australian cricketer Shane Warne feels that the young wicket-keeper Josh Inglis can be a perfect replacement after the current captain Tim Paine in Test cricket. Time Paine has taken over the captaincy duties after the ball-tampering incident of Steve Smith. Paine had to face a few struggles in the initial stage of his captaincy but later he has managed pretty well to fit into the shoes. Here is Australia’s Wicket Keeper After Tim Paine.

Tim’s record as a player is also nothing special and Australian Captains have been legendary with the likes of Ricky Ponting, Steve Waugh, Allan Border, Steve Smith, etc. Also, Tim Paine is aged 36 and he is at the end of his career and retirement doesn’t seem far away from him.

Josh Inglis, the Western Australian wicketkeeper-batsman, has been excellent recently and has shown all signs of being the future Australian wicketkeeper. Shane Warne has claimed that Tim Paine will announce his retirement as the national team’s Test wicket-keeper.

“He’s gonna play for Australia, definitely. I think he’s going to be the (Test) keeper-batsman after Tim Paine,” Warne told in an Interaction.

“He’s very clean behind the stumps, very soft hands, and a good mover behind the stumps. With the bat, he’s one of those new, modern 360 (degree) players. He’s got every single shot – he’s got the ramp, the reverse ramps and he’s got the traditional normal shots as well,” he added.

The Legendary leg spinner has also mentioned the constant hunger Josh Inglis has for winning and results combined with the knowledge. “He’s very switched on and hungry for knowledge. He’s very, very impressive and I reckon he’s going to be representing Australia very, very quickly.” He concluded.

On the other side, Adam Gilchrist had another opinion that Alex Carey would be the leading contender to replace Tim Paine. Australian opener sees a potential leadership quality that will help Australia win trophies in the coming future.
