During the third day of the third Test of the ongoing Indian tour of South Africa in Ranchi, India’s fast bowler Umesh Yadav showed a stupendous fielding effort to make South Africa’s fast bowler Kagiso Rabada return to the pavilion.
It all happened when Rabada drove a Ravichandran Ashwin to Yadav at mid-off on the penultimate delivery of the 38th over. It was Yadav’s slight misfield that made the batsmen attempt a close single.
Yadav picked up the ball and tossed it at the end of the non-striker. A precise throw from him at Rabada’s end saw the batsman fall short of the crease. Coming in the 37th over to bat at No. 9, Rabada got out on 0 (6).
Yadav, in this game, was magnificent across departments. Yesterday, during the Indian innings, the 31-year-old scored a hard-hitting 31 (10) to accelerate India’s score with the help of five sixes.
Sharing the new ball with Mohammed Shami, Yadav got rid of the South African opening batsman Quinton de Kock (4). Earlier today, he dismissed South Africa captain Faf du Plessis (1) in the very first over of the day.
